MALVERN put in an impressive performance to thrash Nuneaton Old Edwardians 31-3 in the Midlands Two West (South).
Malvern travelled to Warwickshire on Saturday (February 20) to put on a disciplined show of class and they immediately stamped their authority on the game.
After catching the kick-off ball and putting it into touch, Malvern won the Nuneaton line out to set up a ruck and quickly moved play to Tom Hale on the wing.
Hale obliged by soaring 75 metres to score under the posts and give Ben King the easiest of conversions.
The home side pulled back three points from a penalty, but that was their sole contribution to a game which the away side dominated throughout.
Malvern repeatedly gained possession and with five minutes before half-time, the away side won a line out and put in a forward drive for Richard Hobbs to touch down for the score.
In the second half Malvern continued to dominate both territory and possession, making light of the swampy conditions underfoot and after some fine loose play by the forwards they put in another rolling maul to cross the line, with Stuart Clark touching down.
The back line were not to be left out as George Roberts intercepted a Nuneaton pass and the veteran winger stormed in with a 50 metre scoring run – King added the extra two points.
Malvern finished their scoring and claimed the bonus point when Adam Dixon put in a trade mark shimmy to wrong-foot the defence and cut through to ground the ball under the posts. King’s conversion ended proceedings.
Malvern face Bedworth in the league this Saturday (February 27) at Spring Lane from 2.15pm.
