“I wanted to get through this season and see the lay of the land and to be honest we had a few positive results at the end, but it was not enough to make me stay,” he said.
“My personal circumstances have changed, which would made it a little more difficult to fully commit next year and that’s coupled with the fact that I think they need somebody a bit younger with more energy.
“I have done this job for a very long time and you get to a point when you find yourself saying the same old thing and struggling a little to motivate the lads, so I decided it was time for me to step back.”
Karl Lancett has also relinquished his role as reserve team manager, but Mann said they would both remain involved with the club as the search continues to find their replacements.
“I will continue with the club’s committee and hopefully get involved with their fund-raising and I will offer whatever help I can to whoever takes the job on,” he said.
“If they get the right man in place and the existing squad stays together and he brings one or two players in then I think they will be better than OK next season baring in mind we under achieved this year.”
