Tongue hits century for Barnards Green who dash Halesowen's promotion hopes

SKIPPER Ryan Tongue hit a century for Barnards Green who all but brought an end to Halesowen’s hopes of securing promotion from Birmingham League Division One with a 58-run success.

Batting first, Green rattled up a score of 241-7 from their allotted 50 overs, thanks to a fine 135 off 146 balls from Tongue.

His innings featured 18 fours and three sixes.

Green’s bowlers Mahaaz Ahmed (4-39) and Rehaan Edavalath (3-16) then caused havoc with the ball to hustle Halesowen out for 182 in their reply.

Green entertain Bromsgrove on Saturday.
