A SUPERB first half display from Malvern Town saw the Langland Stadium side to a comfortable 3-1 victory over local rivals Bromyard Town on Wednesday night.
The home fans watched on with delight as goals from Joe Endacott and Lee Hooper either side of an own goal put Malvern in control as they led 3-0 at the break before Dan Horton scored for the visitors.
After heavy defeats to Sporting Khalsa and Lye Town, Malvern were desperate to return to winning ways and claim the bragging right against Bromyard.
And they did not take long to open the scoring as Endacott head home Hooper’s cross to give Town the lead on seven minutes.
Les Jones’ men were all over the Herefordshire outfit in the early stages as Dave Reynolds forced a fine save from Dan Joyner.
But the keeper do nothing to deny Malvern at their next attempt as a Bromyard player divert Endacott’s header into his own net.
The hosts wasted several chances to increase their advantage as they laid siege on the away side’s box.
However, Malvern had to settle with one further goal before the interval as Louis Loader won the ball in midfield and found Hooper who fired past Joyner.
With a 3-0 lead, Town began to take their foot off the gas at the start of the second half, which allowed Bromyard to come back into the contest. And they soon struck, with Horton hitting the back of the net.
But Malvern managed to weather the storm before wrestling back control. The host had several opportunities to add to their tally, with Reynolds going close as his effort clipped the top of the bar.
