Town record back-to-back home wins

MALVERN Town claimed back-to-back victories for the first time this season as they powered to an impressive 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Sporting Community at the Langland Stadium on Saturday.

Lee Hooper struck twice before skipper Joe Endacott added a third as Town followed up their 6-0 victory over Bartley Green last Saturday to continue their climb up the West Midlands Regional League table.

But Malvern almost found themselves behind when Simon Townsend weaved his way through before laying the ball off to Kyle Cassall who could only fire his shot straight into the arms of Ian Hill in the hosts’ goal.

This proved to be a wake up call as Town went straight down the other end to score the opener. Les Jones’ side were awarded a penalty after Reece King’s cross hit a Wolverhampton hand in the box and Hooper duly dispatched it.

Malvern continued to control proceedings and they grabbed a second just before the break. In added time at the end of the first half, Hooper could not reach Louis Loader’s cross before James Lush put the ball back across goal for the striker slot home from close range.

The hosts then appeared to wrap up the victory in the opening ten minutes of the second period when they made it 3-0. Hooper headed on Loaders ball into the box which was lashed into the net by Endacott who produced a superb waist high volley.

This triggered boss Jones to make several replacements, but this backfired as Chris Parker had to be taken off after receiving a blow to his knee to leave Malvern down to ten men for the final 15 minutes.

With a man advantage, the visitors bossed the remaining stages and they cut back the deficit late on when Matt Dudley squeezed his shot past Hill.

Town will be hoping to make it third wins from three when they visit Sporting Khalsa tomorrow (Tuesday) night.
