Town to use video analysis to boost team performances

Malvern Editorial 6th Jun, 2014 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

VIDEO analysis is set to be introduced at Malvern Town as preparations begin ahead of their assault on the West Midlands Regional League.

Sporting director Ted Grizzell told the Observer cameras will be installed at the Langland Stadium this summer in a bid to improve players’ performances.

Malvern finished 14th in Grizzell’s first season at the club and the 24-year-old believed the technology, which would be used in training, would help the club achieve their ambitions of securing a place in the top six.

“It is a fantastic tool and something which we will not only be able to boast about, but it will also be a benefit to the coaching staff, who will be able to reflect and evaluate after the training session.” he said.

“Next season we will have a whole club training night where the first team, u21s and the u18s will come together, which will give us more fluidity between the squad and it will give us the chance to use the video analysis.

“I believe it is something which will put us on a step above other teams in the league who are unable to offer that.”

Meanwhile, Grizzell said a new u21s and u18s team will be entering Division Two of the West Midlands Regional League and Midland Floodlit Youth League respectively next season.

The club will also be running a ladies side, while they have launched the MTFC Boys Player Development Centre, which will include a season-long programme for u15s and a six week pilot for u13s.

Grizzell added: “We are all very excited with the prospect of six different groups being part of the club next season and I see it that anything we can do to help aid development and improve performance is only going to be a good thing.

“It’s a great time to be associated with the club and another step closer to the long term goal of professionalising Malvern Town FC.”

Talented players in the area have been handed the chance to earn their place in either the first team, u21s or 18s side as trials will be held at Dyson Perrins 4G Astro on Saturday, June 28 from 2.30pm until 4.30pm. Ladies trials will take place on Sunday, July 6 between 12.30 and 2.30pm.
