MALVERN Town have announced Dene Whittal-Williams and Lee Hooper as their new joint first-team managers.
After reviewing multiple applications, the board of directors voted unanimously in favour of the duo.
Whittal-Williams and Hooper take over from Les Jones and Derek Doyle who agreed to step down from their position after the board voted in favour of a change of management at a meeting at the end of April.
Hillsiders chairman Chris Pinder said: “Although low-scoring in terms of managerial experience, Dene and Lee’s proposal was the most thorough and compelling.
“Both share proven qualities of determination and ambition, with a winning mentally.
“The board have agreed to provide the resources requested to support their season plan and we’re excited to see it being put into action.
“Their innate understanding of the Malvern Town set-up and club dynamics will allow them to hit the ground running.”
Whittal Williams and Hooper cannot wait to get started ahead of what they called an ‘exciting time’ for the club both on and off the field.
“We are proud and excited to be offered this opportunity,” they said.
“The club is in a great position on and off the pitch.
“We look forward to a positive future and will do all we can to build on the success and development of recent seasons.
“Our blend of experience is complemented by a philosophy that will strive for professionalism and player development that is underpinned by a team ethos.”
Alongside playing and captaining the Hillsiders, Whittal-Williams has a UEFA B licence and has taken an active role in coaching the first-team for the past three years.
Meanwhile, Hooper has played for Malvern for the majority of his 17-year career at senior level.
He made his first senior appearance at the age of 15, winning promotion to the Southern League as captain.
