MALVERN Town manager Les Jones says his team’s ability to grind out wins at a vital stage of the season has pleased him.
The Hillsiders have won three of their last four outings by the odd goal, with the latest being a 2-1 victory at lowly Bilston Town Community on Saturday, a result which saw Jones’ side move back up to fifth in the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division.
On a difficult pitch, Jones praised his side’s ability to dig deep and come away with all three points.
He said: “We created a lot of chances throughout the 90 minutes and on the face of things probably should have won by three or four.
“There’s plenty of confidence in the lads at the moment but in the last two games we have not played anywhere near as good as we can.
“However, it’s all about winning and we have managed to get good results even though we have not been playing well, so on the whole I’m very pleased.”
Malvern entertain another team struggling at the bottom of the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division on Saturday, with Bromyard Town visiting the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.
Jones is expecting a tough encounter despite the visitors lowly 20th position in the table.
He added: “We’ve got another tough game this Saturday against Bromyard Town but, despite their league position, when they have a full squad to choose from, they’re a really tough side and we will be looking to not be complacent.”
